MillerCoors — the North American marketing arm of Colorado's Molson Coors Brewing Co. — said Wednesday it has donated $1.3 million to support 47 historically black public colleges and universities. The donation is to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund , which raises money for the colleges, and will be used to support leadership development, programmatic support, scholarship and capacity-building at the 47 schools. THE PRIVATE company on the verge of turning the Coors Visitor Centre into a national brewing museum has received unanimous backing, the chairman of an action group set up to save the attraction has revealed. Former Burton College principal Keith Norris, who is a member of the group which hoped to save the former Bass Museum, in Horninglow Street, said the group had already met the company and was 'really pleased' with what it had heard. As the recession bites further into consumers' wallets, people are seeking solace in comfort foods, particularly in beer and candy, according to the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) released November 17. The report is a quarterly indicator of customer evaluations of products in over 10 categories. Heinz, maker of the ultimate comfort product, ketchup, was rated consumers' preferred company for the tenth year in a row, but candy and beer also appeared to offer satisfaction.

For the record, U.S. Stocks fell as profit forecasts dragged tech shares lower. Asia was brewing giant SABMiller's best performer in first half of its financial year as the only region to report positive top line growth. SABMiller reported a 13% revenue increase to $1bn in Asia for the interim period to end-September. Analysts were also impressed with its North American performance, even though it reported a 2% revenue decline to $2.8bn.

Watchdog TV presenter Nicky Campbell will chair an event looking at the way we drink in Oxford tonight. The event takes place at the Museum of Natural History, in Parks Road, at 7pm.
